Hey Sharon, thanks for the question! Any increase in height will be beneficial. It is essentially what you are comfortable with in your landscape. To an extent, the higher the better. I cut our lawn at about 4″ height – the highest setting on our mower. Toward the end of the growing season in fall, I lower it after the grass has stopped growing. At the shortest, I don’t cut any lower than 2″. This reduced height helps to better mulch leaves, reduce any dead plant material, and allow air circulation over the colder months. Then in spring, it’s back to max height setting!
